In what can only be explained as a stunning attempt to appeal to the Repubevangelicals in preparation for a bid to obtain the Republican Presidential nomination, Rudy Giuliani has endorsed an out of state mayoral candidate to make Pat Robertson's heart go pitter-pat. Josh Marshall is reporting that Giuliani has endorsed Charlie Winburn for Mayor of Cincinatti, despite the fact Winburn doesn't think anyone but "Born-Again Christians" should be permitted to hold public office in the US [emphasis added]
For his part, Winburn now says he may have sounded intolerant in his book and that if he'd written it todayto be read by everyone while running for office, instead of 16 years ago while writing to "lazy Christians" he would write certain sections differently so as not to seem so intolerant. He issued no comment on any potential revision to address how to teach mistresses their boundaries.
"Politics is dirty because the true believers are not really involved in it," Winburn wrote in his 1989 book, "Ruling and Reigning in the '90s." "We Christians must clean up politics. It is our job to elect only born-again believers to public office. If office holders aren't Christian and refuse to obey the laws of God, we must work hard, under the law, to unseat them."The thrice married Giuliani, who is Roman Catholic & whose second marriage ended amidst allegations of adultery hence precluding from holding office as someone who refused to obey the G-d's laws, stated he was "really impressed" with Winburn. According to Giuliani, Winburn's crime plan has a very good approach to making a city safer - he issued no comment on his opinion of the Winburn plan to teach wives their boundaries.
For his part, Winburn now says he may have sounded intolerant in his book and that if he'd written it today
