The Fundamentalist/Evangelical/Repubevangelical crowd claims to want to criminalize abortion on the basis that all human life is sacred and now, in the broadening of "Operation Rescue" to "Operation Save America", to save this very country not only from the evils of abortion but from the inherent evils of not being Christian.
The current focus, courtesy the Bush administration and recent events, is the "lie" that is Islam, ignoring Islam's place among the Abrahamic religions and laying down the accusation that Islam and its holy Scripture is what causes all terrorism. Rational people understand that the problem isn't the the Scripture itself, but the understanding of it as being complete and inerrant (which means it must be taken/applied literally without interpretation). The irony in all of this is that fundamentalists of all the Abrahamic religions pretty much have the same views of what is and is not acceptable/moral according to scripture. Fundamentalist Christian groups pushing for laws that are remarkably similar to those imposed by fundamentalist Islamic regimes elsewhere (we Jews have our own fundamentalists that occasionally go off the deep end, but being that we're essentially powerless we're able to keep it to a minimum and have no problem condemning their actions for what they are).
Here, in the US, Christian fundamentalists (fundagelicals/repubevangelicals) are part of a call to make this a Christian nation, with legislation based on Christian Scripture (though they frequently use the term Judeo-Christian, since the Jewish bible contains the same books - different order- at the Christian OT and Jews have a very different understanding of that scripture and how it is to be interpretted/applied). The basic premise of this movement is the sheer superiority and accuracy of Christian Scripture and the exposure of other religions for their lies based on outright fanatically violence inciting (un)holy texts they, inaccurately, consider accurate and sacred. The fact is that the highest incidences of violent crimes such as murder, rape, child molestation, dismemberment and armed robbery happen in Islamic countries. In Non-Islamic countries, wherever terrorist and subversive activities take place, one is sure to find the presence of Muslims.The more devout one is, the more likelihood one is to be a terrorist. We know, courtesy of Pat Roberston, there's no such thing as a Christian extremist engaging in terroristic activities (it is for this reason, Robertson would exclude Muslims from high level government positions and support adherence to Christianity as the basis for leadership of other countries). The premise: the mere daily devotional reading of the Qu'ran trains a person to be a terrorist because of the language contained therein and training starts in infancy (if not in utero). This is something one gathers can not likewise be applied to daily devotional reading of Christian Scripture which is vastly superior in teaching morality (especially when taken literally).
This pattern is so obvious that it leads one to wonder what exactly is it that makes Muslims so viciously engaged in violent crimes against the rest of humanity. Why are all terrorist activities that target innocent Non-Muslim victims always abetted by Muslim terrorists? What is it that makes the Muslim mind so subject to criminality and the display of such violent tendencies right from his/her childhood days?
The answer lies in the systematic brainwashing that Muslims are subjected to since birth. The majority of the Non-Islamic world has deluded itself into believing that the principles of Islam are tolerant in nature. This misconception is heightened when people think that the fault lies with only a handful of misguided Muslims who are not adhering to Islamic principles and hence indulge in terrorism. It is time for the entire world to realise that Islam by its very nature and through its essential principles openly supports, encourages and propogates Terrorism of the worst kind. Therefore the Islamic terrorist is in fact the most devout Muslim, because he is following exactly what Islam teaches through the Divine Koran. It is this very Koran which is considered by Muslims to be the holy word of their Allah himself. The Koran functions as the central terrorist manual that urges them to slaughter, rape, torture,pillage, mutilate and molest all Non-Muslims.
Psalm 58As a matter of fact, when read literally, Christian Scripture sows nothing but an appreciation of the sanctity of life, especially that of infants and children (from which many of those who wish to criminalize abortion base their arguments, since they view abortion as infanticide which the bible says is just plain wrong).
1 Do you rulers indeed speak justly?
Do you judge uprightly among men?
2 No, in your heart you devise injustice,
and your hands mete out violence on the earth.
3 Even from birth the wicked go astray;
from the womb they are wayward and speak lies.
4 Their venom is like the venom of a snake,
like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears,
5 that will not heed the tune of the charmer,
however skillful the enchanter may be.
6 Break the teeth in their mouths, O God;
tear out, O LORD, the fangs of the lions!
7 Let them vanish like water that flows away;
when they draw the bow, let their arrows be blunted.
8 Like a slug melting away as it moves along,
like a stillborn child, may they not see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns—
whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.
10 The righteous will be glad when they are avenged,
when they bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 Then men will say,
"Surely the righteous still are rewarded;
surely there is a God who judges the earth."
Isaiah 13 [emphasis added]Maybe those who denounce all Muslims (Islam itself) as a false religion that supports terrorism based on the Qu'ran, should take another look at the scripture of their own religion, especially if they consider that text as the complete and inerrant word of G-d. The rest can just take a cursory trip down Memory Lane.
15 Whoever is captured will be thrust through;
all who are caught will fall by the sword.
16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes;
their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.
17 See, I will stir up against them the Medes,
who do not care for silver
and have no delight in gold.
18 Their bows will strike down the young men;
they will have no mercy on infants
nor will they look with compassion on children.
