I came across Leighton's post about proposed legislation to repeal the 22nd amendment this morning. House Joint Resolution 24 was introduced in the House last February by Steny Hoyer (D-MD) on behalf of Berman (D-CA), Sensenbrenner (R-WI), Pallone (D-NJ), Sabo (D-MN) and himself, and requests to repeal the the term limit to the office of the President of the United States. No rationale is given for the resolution, and the involvement of Democrats (all but Sensenbrenner are Democrats) seems very odd to say the least. This isn't the only stealth submission of a resolution to repeal an amendment, Iowa's own Steve King introduced H.J. Res 16 to repeal the 16th article of amendment allowing Congress to tax income "without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
