A belated Christmas present for the Christotheocratic set

Holy cow, I haven't posted since August but I guess there hasn't been a story quite as explosive as what I read in this morning's Telegraph to force me to sit down and comment. In case you haven't read it, British researchers have found that women who keep their houses tidy are less likely to develop breast cancer. Understand, the protection doesn't come from just having a clean house, it comes from the act of being a good housewife [emphasis mine]:
Previous studies have identified a link between exercise and reduced breast cancer risk in post-menopausal women, but this is one of the first to include a large number of pre-menopausal women.

The researchers analysed data on work, leisure and housework activity levels among 218,169 women aged 20 to 80 from nine European countries including the UK.

They followed the women for an average of 6.4 years, during which time 3,423 developed breast cancers. When all forms of activity were combined, being active appeared to offer a protective effect only to post-menopausal women.

However when the results were examined in more detail it was found that women who did the most housework had significantly reduced risks while work- and recreation-based activity had less effect.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before folks like Rick Santorum, Daddy Dobson and his FoF minions, et. al. latch onto this as yet another reason to lead us back to the days of "traditional marriage". For my part, I better get myself a mammogram ASAP considering I've yet to birth a baby and housekeeping is most definitely not my forte!
